Tread - Magazine Cover Prototypes

For Typography & Layout, our final assignment is to design a magazine. The class is divided into 2 groups and our group's mag is called "Tread." (I didn't choose it. I wanted Go!, Icon, or Spork.) We're working on our logo right now, and a way to see it with a potential cover. Here are several ideas I have, I don't love any of them, but I like some more than others, but bad or good here they are:

I like the picture of the guy smoking, for some reason. It doesn't look like a typical magazine cover, maybe that's why. The top one looks the most like a real magazine, but the text layout for that one is weird. Anyway, looks like you worked hard on these, good luck with them.

Not too hard, they're just supposed to be cover ideas showcasing the logos we designed. I agree the text on top is weird, it's actually poorly placed and the color doesn't work at all, but oh well. The smoking one is my favorite too. Thanks as always for your comments.

What a coincidence. I like the smoking one best too. I also like the layout of the last one.

I like the tread font on the first one the best. Could be the subliminal effect of the bearded guy reminding me of the Iron and Wine dude.

Im several posts behind. The design work you are doing lately looks awesome.

And the Joker kissing the Jester...freaky!
